WEARING THE CITY II
NAB DOCKLANDS

Wearing the City is a project commissioned by Naomi Milgrom for the MPavilion, it looks at translating buildings into wearable art.
With NAB Docklands the focus is on colour, flexibility, triangles and heat responsiveness.
I wanted to respond to both the interior and exterior of the building.
I took the repeated triangulation throughout the building and using a thermo-malleable felt, created a structural fabric that was then painted on one side to represent the interior and left completely exposed on the exterior.
The felt itself is natural and non-dyed which reinforces the expression of materiality in the building. The colours on the interior
The facade's bright fissures respond to heat, which was the reason for using thermo-malleable felt. The interior of the building is based on flexibility of space for a commercial environment, which is why a flexible and completely wearable fabric was required, felt is also used as a material in the interiors for rugs and upholstery.
